• Earlier, the jurisdiction of traffic police station was limited to municipal corporation/council area which has now been expanded to the entire district.
• Earlier, traffic police station and the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) were created in 12 districts. Currently, traffic police station and the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) have been created in all 40 districts of the state (including police district Bagha and Navgachhia).
• 4,556 traffic force was approved for previously created 12 districts which has increased to total 8,771 after approval of 4,215 new traffic force for newly created 28 districts.
• A total of 86 vehicles have been provided to all traffic police stations in the state and 43 vehicles to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic).
• Approval has been received for Highway Patrolling Scheme for road safety and traffic regulation on national highways within the state, under which 61 vehicles (with various equipment) have been deputed on the most accident-prone national highways in the first phase. For this, a total of 1,560 human resources have been approved.
• Under Standing Order No. 02/23, the posting process of officers/personnel is underway in all traffic districts, in which Age Profile has been taken into consideration such as constable should be less than 35 years of age.
• Induction training has been started from June month at IDTR Aurangabad after finalizing the syllabus for training related to traffic management and so far 1,670 officers/personnel have been trained.
• Traffic management work has been started in a better way under the Smart City project in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Bihar Sharif (Nalanda), whose wide impact is being reflected in the compliance of traffic rules.
• Vehicle data is being collected through e-detection portal system at all toll plazas in the state and intensive checking and enforcement action is being taken. This will encourage the operation of fit vehicles on highways.
• Manual challan has been stopped from 01.11.2023 across the entire state and traffic enforcement action is being taken in a transparent manner with photographic evidence through 1527 HDD machines.
• All police sub-inspectors and above rank police officers in the state have been given the power of compounding against traffic rules violations. For the first time, compounding power has been given under Section 194(A) (carrying excess passengers) and 196 (driving uninsured vehicle) etc. of MV Act.
• 1220 smart phones (with SIM) have been provided to all police stations in the state for collection of road accident related data in digital form (i-RAD/e-DAR). This will facilitate timely investigation of road accident related cases and compensation payment as per Gauhar Mohammad vs UPSRTC judgment.
• The posts of Deputy Inspector General of Police and Assistant Inspector General of Police have been created in the office of Additional Director General of Police (Traffic).
