About STF and ATS

Operations (Special Task Force and Anti Terrorism Squad) Division consists of Special Task Force and Anti Terrorism Squad, the special operations forces under the Bihar police headquarter.

 The STF consists of highly trained officers and commandos trained at Greyhounds, Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, NSG, Manesar, Haryana, CIAT Silchar, and other Army Training Schools. STF training center, Bodh Gaya also became operational. It is state of the art facility to train Dy. SP / Insp. / SIs and Constables in Counter Insurgency. Till date 07 Dy. SPs / Inspectors, 71 Sub Inspectors, and 959 SC/JC have been trained.

 

 

Various security camps have been established by STF to limit the area of naxal influence and mobility, cut the line of supply to the Naxals and also fill up the security vacuum in the area. Due to continuous operations by STF 57 naxals including 06 rewardees arrested in the year 2022 and the Maoists activity shifted from plain areas to hilly areas of the state. At present LWE activities are mainly concentrated in the hilly area on the border of Jharkhand.

 

Special Task Force has also carried out regular operations against organized criminal gangs and this has resulted in numerous arrests and recoveries. 283 most wanted criminals including 19 rewardees have been arrested in the year 2022. STF has also recovered 14 regular rifles including AK-47s and AK-56s and looted gold.

 

Special Task force (STF) is headed by an Additional Director General of Police (Operations), who is assisted by, Deputy lnspector General of Police (Operations) and Superintendent of Police (Operations) and Superintendent of Police (Training).

 

 

Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) is headed by an Additional Director General of Police (ATS) / lnspector General of Police (ATS), who is assisted by Superintendent of Police and Commandant (ATS).
